deer crossing the art farm is inviting artists to participate in our first annual artfarmers market as a part of our Synchronicity Festival, Aug 7th and 8th 2010. The Synchronicity Festival is the art farm’s main event of the season and will be attracting over 500 patrons from the Sunshine Coast and Vancouver. There will be three shows a day at the festival where audiences will be led through the surrounding farm and forest. Afterwards, audiences will return to the festival hub where there will be food/beverages for sale, activities for children and the artfarmers market. The public will be welcome to roam in the lower woven gardens and through the vendor stalls. The artfarmers market will be located on a plateau over looking a scenic view of the coastal mountains and Howe Sound: a spectacular place to spend an afternoon.
Not sure what an artfarmer is? Artfarmers are people who believe in the art farm vision: art + nature = change. We are looking for artists/artisans that work using a conscientious method of creation, offering inspiration to their customers as well as a small eco -footprint. An example: the art farm has designed hand-sewn art bags, using reclaimed lumber wrap from Gibsons Building Supply. Lumber wrap is a durable material used to ship milled lumber. After shipping, the wrap goes straight to our land fills. With a bit of thread, some ingenuity and a little time, the art farm has turned this waste product into an elegant work of art that can be used for years to come. We’re looking for artists/artisans who share a similar passion for inspiring positive change with their work.
Times: Saturday from 12pm -7pm (last show is at 7pm) and 11am – 4pm on Sunday
Cost: 10 % of all sales to the art farm (a non-profit society established to foster events such as these)
Location: 2 km from the Langdale ferry along the Port Mellon Hwy
