Uniting Passion & Pragmatism to Brand Your Mission
Mike Rowlands, Octopus Strategies
Social Enterprises. Social Ventures. Mission-based companies. Call them what you will, forward-thinking non-profits and social entrepreneurs are founding enterprises to fill market needs, enhance their mission delivery and fund their programs. Yet many cause-driven organizations and enterprises struggle to find their voice.
How can you engage customers, staff, stakeholders and others in your mission? Mike Rowlands will share examples, insights and experiences, while helping you to identify ways to distinguish your organization in a marketplace that's increasingly conscious and crowded.
Mike works with mission-driven organizations around the world, crafting distinctive strategies and award-winning marketing. Octopus Strategies has earned an international reputation as an innovator in brand strategy, and as a proponent of values-driven leadership. From offices in Vancouver, Canada and London, UK, Octopus serves organizations as diverse as Royal charities, technology startups, and professional services firms. The common thread is their dedication to meaningful missions, and to building sustainable organizations.
Mike is a frequent public speaker, and has lectured for MBA candidates at UBC’s Sauder School of Business. He’s also a member of the faculty of Social Venture Institute. In 2009, in recognition of his expertise in sustainability and brand strategy, he was invited to sit on the Advisory Board to the Faculty of Management at Royal Roads University. He is also a Director of a number of non-profit organizations.
