Sunshine Coast, BC - The Coast Cultural Alliance (CCA) is pleased to announce the first annual Sunshine Coast Art Crawl on the weekend of October 23-24, 2010. The Art Crawl is a weekend event of 75 open galleries and art studios, representing over 175 artists along the entire Sunshine Coast Highway from Langdale to Lund - Lund to Langdale.
Crawlers are invited to join friends and take a scenic drive along the Sunshine Coast, stopping at the wonderful community hubs and studio events throughout the weekend. Visit the Information Hub closet to your starting point; Gibsons, Roberts Creek, Sechelt, Madeira Park and Powell River to grab a map and passport, and before you start out on your journey along the scenic coastline of the Sunshine Coast. If you are traveling from Vancouver to Langdale our BC Ferries Ambassadors will be onboard to get you started. This 2-day event will dazzle your cultural senses with demonstrations, receptions and performances.
Nadina Tandy at Chasters: a visual artist living and working on Canada's Sunshine Coast. In pursuing the creation of her own unique art, she has created and taught arts programs for children and adults, designed sets for theatre and illustrated book covers. She has exhibited her artwork for over 16 years and has collectors in North America and Europe. Join Nadina at Chasters in Gibsons, BC to kick off the weekend on Friday Oct 22 at 6pm for a Champagne Reception & Art Viewing.
this is it: design is a specialty design/build studio, that focuses on contemporary objects for residential, corporate and public projects. The studios main focus is glass, however Rob and Beth have earned a reputation for working with a broad range of materials, techniques and processes. April White: "This world of my ancestors' is breathtaking beauty and bounty woven with the supernatural; a place where everything is capable of shifting shape and changing function. Intuitively, I try to release the imagery by painting with watercolour and acrylic, printmaking in formline, designing Button Blankets and Vests, carving the indigenous stone, Argillite, and transcribing my understanding to words." Her career has taken her all over North America, particularly to the globally famous juried shows and markets in Santa Fe, Portland, Scottsdale and Phoenix.
